Most of us are already familiar with Clay, an elegant and powerful multi-platform application for managing people and relationships. Clay takes the pain out of managing a vast network of contacts by automatically pulling in people and information from an array of sources—social media, phone, email, calendars and contact books. Clay will then organize your relationships and surface relevant information and reminders about them. The embedded Nexus AI can assist with tasks such as combing through contacts to curate specific groups for messaging, answering questions about your network, or drafting emails. To put it simply, Clay is cool.
All of this is really nifty, but for those of us using Notion for everything else—document management, note taking, project/task management, and more—how do we access those contacts and put them to use where we most often need them, in Notion?
All your relationships, now in Notion
I’m excited to share that Clay has introduced a brand new integration with Notion! The set up couldn’t be simpler; once Clay is connected to your Notion workspace, a new database will be created and you can joyfully watch as all of your contacts with relevant information automatically flow in. What you do with it after that is up to you. Your contacts will be accessible throughout your Notion workspace to connect to documents, projects, notes, and meetings. Clay will keep your contacts up to date in the background in realtime.
Expand this into a comprehensive system for managing client projects or customer sales. Build a birthday tracking and reminder system. The possibilities are endless!
How to set up the integration
So how does all of this work? You can set up the Clay x Notion integration in just a few easy steps:
- Sign up for a free Clay account at clay.earth or log into your existing Clay account
- Follow the prompts to connect your accounts to automatically pull everyone you know into Clay
- Access account Settings → Integrations, and select the “Notion” integration option
- Clay will request access to your Notion workspace
- Select the “Use a template provided by the developer” option and click “Allow Access”
- Confirm access
And that’s it! You will find a “Welcome to Clay” page in the Notion sidebar with an introduction and link to your new contacts database. There is also a starter suite of views that you can use to manage your network for unique purposes.
Thank you to the exceptional Clay team for developing this awesome life-enhancing application and the ability to sync with Notion!
